November Classes

Create Your Own Knitting, Crochet or Weaving Class This class is for anyone from the beginner who wants to learn the basics to the advanced student who would like help tackling a specific project. If you would like to schedule a group or a one-on-one lesson please call the shop ~ we will be glad to schedule a lesson at your convenience.

November Knit-a-longs

This month, we will be hosting two great knit-a-longs! 

The Gaptastic Cowl knits up very quickly on size 13 needles ~it will quickly become on of your favorite accessories and would also make a terrific gift. This knit-a-long will meet on Wednesdays in November.

The Serenity Cowl by Tahki is beautiful chevron cowl knit in 2 colors of Zona yarn. Choose your own color combination to create YOUR unique project ~ what a great way to practice working with 2 yarns at once! The pattern costs $6 and can be purchased on ravelry.com or at the shop. This knit-a-long will meet on Tuesdays in November.

Come by the shop soon to choose your yarn and to sign-up for the KALs ~ you will receive 20% off your knit-a-long supplies this month (not including sale yarn). There is no charge for the knit-a-longs with purchase of supplies from the shop.

Chemo Hats

Many of us at the shop have been knitting Chemo hats for patients at Lafayette General for some time now. Sadly, the hospital is always in need of more caps, so we could really use your help! If you are interested in contributing to this great cause, please stop by the shop for advice on the best hat patterns and yarns for these hats.

October Classes

Create Your Own Knitting, Crochet or Weaving Class

This class is for anyone from the beginner who wants to learn the basics to the advanced student who would like help tackling a specific project. If you would like to schedule a group or a one-on-one lesson please call the shop ~ we will be glad to schedule a lesson at your convenience.

October Knit-a-long

The knit-a-long this month is the stunning Self-Fringing Shawl. This triangular shaped shawl knits up quickly, can be knit using one of many available yarns, and can be knit symmetrically or asymmetrically! Come on by to see these beautiful sample shawls in person!
Come by the shop soon to choose your yarn and to sign-up for the KAL ~ you will receive 20% off your knit-a-long supplies this month (not including sale yarn). There is no charge for the knit-a-long with purchase of supplies from the shop. At the end of each month the names of those who have completed their knit-a-long project will be entered into our prize raffle. We will draw one winner each month, so be sure to share your finished projects with us by the end of the month to be eligible!

We will meet on Wednesdays in September (1pm - 3pm).

Vice Trunk Show

Our Vice trunk show was a great success. Thank you to Elizabeth Inman for sharing her beautiful yarns and a big thank you to everyone who attended this fun event. We did buy extra yarn for any of you who couldn't make it and still would like to get a beautiful skein or two.

Bunco in August

June Sit & Stitch Dates

4th and 18th (6pm - 8pm) 

There will be a few Sit & Stitch changes due to our move to the new shop and we ask for your patience as we begin to iron things out this month! We hope to see you at the shop soon!

June Sale

To help prepare for the move, we will continue the additional 25% off all sale items this month ~ new items will be added to the sale wall ~ so please check it out! Winding will be an additional charge of $1 per skein.

Chemo Hats


LGMC has handed out all the hats that were previously donated and they were greatly appreciated. So, please keep the chemo hats coming.

If you would like to knit or crochet a chemo hat, please come by the shop for pattern and yarn ideas. The only requirement is that you use a nice soft yarn which will be soothing and warm for a bald head. We have many nice yarns to choose from at very reasonable prices.

Big Yarn Nook News

We are excited to let you know that very soon Yarn Nook will be moving into a new home at 1120 Coolidge Blvd - which is located between Acme Taco and Antoni's Italian Cafe. Our new space is beautiful, and we hope all our customers will be as happy with it as we are.

We will officially be open in the new space on Tuesday, July 1st. 

We will be closed Friday and Saturday, June 27 & 28, as we will be moving on those days.

May Knit-a-longs

The Pure Linen Lace Scarf by Lisa Richardson explores all the shades of Rowan's Pure Linen yarn. You will love the soft sheen and the relaxed drape of this beautiful scarf. This knit-a-long will meet on Tuesday mornings in May (10am - 12pm).

The amazing Coastal Capelet can be worn draped over one shoulder or as a cape and will keep you comfortable on brisk spring days or in chilly air conditioned spaces this summer. You choose when to wear it ~ all we know is that you will want to wear this beautiful piece often! This knit-a-long will meet on Wednesday mornings in May (10am - 12pm).

For those who are not familiar with KALs (Knit-a-longs) they work like this: They are set "Sit and Stitch" times during which you can work with fellow knitters to complete your project - a KAL is not a class. There is no charge for the KAL with the purchase of all supplies from the shop.

Bunco at the Nook

Our first Yarn Nook Bunco night on April 21st was a great success! We played the game, laughed, met new friends, ate some great food and laughed some more. Congratulations to all of the night's winners who took home some fun prizes.

We hope you will join us on Monday, May 19th at 6:30pm for our next Bunco night and an evening of fun, friends and laughter. The cost is $15 which covers our night of prizes, "Just Desserts" and beverages, of course. Space is limited for this activity and we must have a minimum of 10 people to play. March Classes

Sock Class (Top-down, Magic Loop, Two-at-a-time), $60 
Thursdays, March 6th and 20th, 10am - 12pm
Is knitting a pair of socks on your list of techniques to conquer? Well join us for this series of classes during which you will knit a pair of top-down socks two-at-a-time using the magic loop method. We will be knitting a pair of slipper socks with size 8 needles to make the steps easier to understand and the socks quicker to knit. Taught by Heather Long.

Beginning Weaving, $30 per 2-hour class

January Sit & Stitch Schedule

For a while now, we have been alternating our Sit & Stitch meetings ~ one Wednesday at the shop and one Wednesday at Indulge. As of this month, we will no longer have an "organized" meeting at Indulge on the alternate weeks. Of course, you all are welcome to get together at Indulge or anywhere else as you choose on those off weeks.

We hope to see you at Sit & Stitch at the shop on January 8th and 22nd at our normal time, 5pm - 8pm!
