The Fall Gathering at the Cottage Shoppe

Kim will be sponsoring our Yarn Nookers' booth at The Fall Gathering Craft Show at the Cottage Shoppe once again. If you would like to place your handknit or crocheted items for sale in the booth, you are more than welcome to do so. Any money your items earn at the show will of course go to you, so get started stitching! We also welcome you to join us to sit and knit or crochet at the booth during the craft show. Our booth is about selling our handmade items, but it is also about stitching in public and showing our love for our craft! The craft show will take place on Saturday, October 24th and Sunday, October 25th.

The Yarn Nookers will also be knitting and crocheting in public at the following events, so please mark your calendars now!
October 9th & 10th at Yarn Nook ~ Festival Acadiens et Creoles
December 4th at Yarn Nook ~ Oil Center Festival of Lights

Helmetliner Project Update

The Yarn Nookers are working hard knitting and crocheting helmetliners for the troops in Afganistan! If you are willing to donate your time and expertise to this worthwhile project, please come by the shop to pick out your yarn today!

Military mom and fellow Yarn Nooker, Pam Frey, is collecting money from non-knitters who are interested in helping our cause. If you know a non-knitter who would like to sponsor a helmetliner, have them contact the Yarn Nook ~ one of the Yarn Nookers would be glad to knit their helmetliner for them!

Beginner knitters who feel uncomfortable about tackling the entire helmetliner are welcome to do their part by knitting the ribbing and then passing it off to another knitter. Please consider participating in the Helmetliner Knit-a-long as well. The Knit-a-long will be held on Tuesdays, September 8, 15, 22, 29, 1pm - 3pm and we will walk you through each step of the helmetliner!

Knitting a helmetliner is a great way to support our troops and a terrific opportunity to learn lots of new techniques! Please note that we have tweaked the pattern instructions as per suggestions from military personnel, so please take the time to get our revised instructions from Kim.
