Party at Kim's House on Sunday

Don't forget that the 1st Annual Customer Appreciation Party will be held Sunday at Kim's house. If you haven't already done so, stop by the shop to RSVP and pick up a map. Great food, great company, and lots of fun are guaranteed. Kim has lots of fun activities planned for the kids, too.

Click here for more details about the party. Oh yeah, don't forget to bring your knitting or crocheting!!!!

We have a winner!!!!

Well....actually we have 2 winners......for our Name That Sheep Contest!!!

The Yarn Nookers voted on the best name for our sheep friend last Wednesday, and we actually picked first and last names that were submitted by two different people and combined them to form our sheep's name. So, two of our creative friends will receive a skein of Happy sock yarn of their choice as a token of our appreciation for helping us to come up with such a great name!!!

Without further ado.....the name of our sheep friend is......
Ewenida Knitmore (You needa knit more...heeheehee)

Dean came up with Ewenida as a first name, and Erin came up with Knitmore as the last name. Isn't it great?!?! Thank you so much, Erin and Dean, for sharing your creativity with us, and we can't wait to see what you do with your new yarn! Hats off to all of you who submitted names for our sheep.....you came up with some great ideas!!!!

1st Annual Yarn Nook Customer Appreciation Party!!

Kim and her husband, Ben, invite you and your family to the Yarn Nook 1st Annual Customer Appreciation Crawfish and Crab Boil!!

We talk about our families all the time at the shop, but many of us have never actually met each other's families and this will be a great opportunity to do so!! Also, it will be fun for all of us who hang out at Yarn Nook to meet each other. For example, those who are there mostly during the day can finally meet those who are there mostly on Wednesday nights!!

The party will be at Kim and Ben’s house on Sunday, May 17th, 3pm until, and will be filled with great food and lots fun!!! There will be crawfish, crabs, potatoes, corn, mushrooms, etc…. and hot dogs for those who do not want seafood!!! Please bring your your lawn chairs and an ice chest with drinks for you and your family!

Your kids are invited to bring a bathing suit and/or fishing pole so they can play on the blow-up water slide and fish in the pond. Older kids can swim in the pond, too.

Please stop by Yarn Nook to RSVP and to pick-up a map to Kim’s house!!! We hope to see you all there!!!

World Wide Knit In Public Day!

World-wide Knit In Public Day has been set for June 13, 2009! The Yarn Nookers love to knit in public, in fact, many of us never leave home without something to knit or crochet…just in case! We have met lots of new friends and recruited many new knitters by knitting in public individually and as a group. Whether knitting in a waiting room, at a festival or a craft show, waiting in line at carpool, our new friends seem TO FIND US! People want to ask questions - they want you to know that they used to knit or want to learn to knit. We hope that the people we meet can sense our love for knitting and crocheting and will join us and come to love it too!!

In order to honor Knit In Public Day, we will be knitting in public on June 13th at Barnes & Noble on Johnston Street in Lafayette from 10am to 6pm! We hope you will join us and encourage your friends and family to do so as well. This will be a great opportunity for the knitters and crocheters in the area to get together and share our love for our craft with the public!!!

A special thanks to those at Barnes & Noble who are helping us to plan this event!!

Check out the bookstore’s June newsletter ~ the Knit In Public event will be listed!

Yarn Nook in the News!

During the most recent Yarn Nooker knit in public event at the Cottage Shoppe craft show we met Laura Faulk. Laura, a writer for the Advocate in Baton Rouge, was intrigued by the dynamic of our group and the passion we all share for our craft and asked if she could share our story. Laura attended last week's Yarn Nooker Night and wrote a great article which you can find on the first page of section B in today's Advocate. You can also read it online here: Yarn Nook arcticle.
